Taking Pictures and Chickens Out to Pasture

6/12/16 – 6/19/16 | Headlines of the week:

  • Moving chickens to pasture!
  • Finding God’s glory in photos

Guess what? The chicks are out on pasture already! I moved them out Friday morning, when they were about 2 1/2 weeks old. I made sure to check the weather for the next few days, because it’s important not to send the chicks outside when it’s going to be nasty out! I want their first few days out there to be as easy as possible. They went from here…

To here! They like it outside much better than in the brooder, go figure.

Speaking of which… I like it outside much better than inside too! And this week I spent some time one morning searching for God’s glory in the gorgeous things outside. It wasn’t hard.

She wouldn’t stand still, but you can see the brown flecks in her eyes from here! This is Tig. She doesn’t earn her keep, but will hold a conversation with you if you care to talk.

Taking these pictures was a great reminder for me – that I have such a good, powerful, creative God who cares for me. God’s word says: “See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. And yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:28b-30)

In other words, if my God does this with the weeds…

He is certainly taking care of me, his beloved child. Now that is a sweet assurance I can rest in, even when life gets crazy!
